Section 1: The Connection Between Academic and Professional Integrity

The relationship between academic integrity and writing is fundamental, serving as the cornerstone of professional communication. Academic integrity involves taking responsibility and demonstrating honesty in presenting original work, which includes crediting scholarly sources used during the development of ideas (Bealle, 2017). A strong link exists between academic integrity and writing quality, influencing the reader’s perception. Avoiding plagiarism through proper referencing fosters trust and fairness, enhancing the author-reader relationship. Expressing original ideas not only promotes creativity but also adds value to the work (Bealle, 2017). Additionally, academic integrity molds high personal values, integrity, and discipline, creating a positive association with an author’s writing.

Professional practices encompass behaviors guiding a professional in their work, while scholarly ethics entail moral integrity in academic pursuits. Both are interconnected, with strong scholarly ethics contributing to high-standard professional practices (de Graaf, 2019).
